Patient Education

Building an effective skincare routine does not require a dozen products. At Rani Beauty Clinic in Renton, WA, we teach patients that a well-constructed routine with the right products consistently outperforms a cabinet full of mismatched products.

The essential morning routine: gentle cleanser, vitamin C serum, moisturizer, SPF 30 or higher. These four products provide antioxidant protection, hydration, and UV defense.

The essential evening routine: cleanser, tretinoin, moisturizer. Evening cleansing removes the day's accumulation. Tretinoin works overnight when repair processes are most active. Moisturizer supports barrier maintenance.

Product order: apply from thinnest to thickest consistency. This ensures each product penetrates effectively.

Vitamin C serum is the morning priority, providing antioxidant protection during daylight hours. Tretinoin is the evening priority, providing cell turnover and collagen stimulation overnight.

Hyaluronic acid serum can be added to either routine, applied to damp skin before other serums. Niacinamide is the most versatile optional addition, suitable for morning or evening.

Build gradually. Start with the basic routine for four to six weeks before adding products. Introduce only one new active at a time with two to four weeks between additions.

Common mistakes: over-complicating routines, inconsistent use, skipping SPF, wrong product order, expecting instant results, and switching products too frequently.

SPF is the single most important product. No amount of actives can undo unprotected UV damage. If budget forces a choice, invest in quality sunscreen first.
