Both HydraFacial and dermaplaning are popular facial treatments, but they work in fundamentally different ways. Understanding their differences helps you choose the best option for your skin goals.
HydraFacial uses patented vortex technology to simultaneously cleanse, exfoliate, extract, and hydrate the skin. It addresses multiple concerns in one session: clogged pores, dullness, fine lines, dehydration, and uneven tone. Customizable booster serums allow targeted treatment for specific issues.
Dermaplaning uses a sterile surgical scalpel to manually exfoliate the outermost layer of dead skin cells and remove vellus hair (peach fuzz). The result is smoother skin texture and better product absorption. Makeup applies more smoothly after dermaplaning.
For most patients, HydraFacial provides more comprehensive skin benefits because it addresses multiple layers and concerns simultaneously. Dermaplaning is excellent for hair removal and surface exfoliation but does not cleanse pores or deliver active ingredients. Many clinics offer them as complementary treatments — dermaplaning before HydraFacial allows the vortex technology to penetrate even more effectively.
