Blood work is a cornerstone of evidence-based medicine, providing objective data about your health that symptoms alone cannot reveal. At Rani Beauty Clinic in Renton, WA, we use comprehensive lab panels to guide treatment decisions for weight management, hormone optimization, and overall wellness. Understanding your results empowers you to be an active participant in your healthcare.

Metabolic Panel

The comprehensive metabolic panel (CMP) evaluates organ function and basic metabolic processes. Fasting glucose measures blood sugar after an overnight fast, with optimal levels between 70 and 90 mg/dL. Levels above 100 suggest impaired glucose metabolism, and levels above 126 indicate diabetes. Liver enzymes including ALT and AST reflect liver health. Kidney function markers including BUN and creatinine assess how well your kidneys are filtering waste. Electrolytes including sodium, potassium, and calcium must remain within narrow ranges for normal cellular function.

Hemoglobin A1c

A1c provides a three-month average of your blood sugar levels, offering a broader view than a single fasting glucose measurement. Optimal A1c is below 5.5 percent. Values between 5.7 and 6.4 percent indicate prediabetes, while 6.5 percent or above indicates diabetes. This test is particularly valuable for monitoring GLP-1 therapy patients, as it objectively demonstrates metabolic improvement over time.

Lipid Panel

The lipid panel measures cholesterol and triglycerides. Total cholesterol, LDL (often called bad cholesterol), HDL (protective cholesterol), and triglycerides all contribute to cardiovascular risk assessment. We look at the ratios and patterns rather than individual numbers in isolation. The triglyceride-to-HDL ratio, for example, is a useful indicator of insulin resistance.

Thyroid Panel

A comprehensive thyroid panel includes TSH, Free T4, Free T3, Reverse T3, and thyroid antibodies. TSH alone is insufficient for thorough thyroid evaluation. Understanding the complete panel reveals whether your thyroid is producing adequate hormone, whether conversion from inactive T4 to active T3 is efficient, and whether autoimmune thyroid disease is present.

Hormone Levels

Hormone testing may include estradiol, progesterone, testosterone (total and free), DHEA-S, cortisol, and SHBG. These values are interpreted in context of your age, symptoms, and treatment goals. Reference ranges are wide, and optimal levels may differ from merely normal ones.

Vitamin and Nutrient Levels

Vitamin D (25-hydroxyvitamin D), B12, iron studies (ferritin, serum iron, TIBC), and magnesium reveal nutritional status that affects energy, immune function, mood, and overall health.

Inflammatory Markers

High-sensitivity C-reactive protein (hs-CRP) measures systemic inflammation. Elevated inflammation is associated with cardiovascular risk, metabolic dysfunction, and chronic disease. Monitoring this marker helps assess the anti-inflammatory effects of weight loss and lifestyle changes.

Making Sense of Your Results

Lab results are most meaningful when interpreted in context by a knowledgeable physician. A single elevated value does not necessarily indicate disease, just as a normal value does not guarantee optimal health. Trends over time, patterns across multiple markers, and correlation with symptoms all factor into clinical interpretation.

At Rani Beauty Clinic, we review your lab results with you in detail, explaining what each marker means and how it influences your treatment plan. You will never receive a lab report without a thorough explanation.

Lab interpretation requires clinical expertise. This guide provides general education and does not replace personalized interpretation by your physician.
