Proper aftercare is essential for maximizing your laser hair removal results and minimizing any side effects. Following these guidelines helps ensure each session delivers optimal follicle destruction.
Immediately after treatment, mild redness and slight swelling are normal. Apply a soothing aloe vera gel or the product recommended by your clinician. Avoid hot showers, saunas, steam rooms, and intense exercise for 24 hours, as heat can irritate treated skin. Use cool compresses if needed.
Sun protection is critical. Apply broad-spectrum SPF 30+ sunscreen to treated areas daily for at least two weeks after each session. Avoid tanning beds entirely during your treatment series. Sun exposure increases the risk of hyperpigmentation and can reduce treatment effectiveness.
Between sessions, do not wax, pluck, or use depilatory creams — these remove the hair follicle that the laser needs to target at your next appointment. Shaving is perfectly fine and encouraged. Treated hairs will appear to grow for 1-3 weeks before shedding naturally. This shedding is a sign the treatment is working.
