Pregnancy brings many changes to the body, including shifts in hair growth patterns. Many women wonder whether they can continue or start laser hair removal during pregnancy.
The current medical recommendation is to avoid laser hair removal during pregnancy. While there is no evidence that laser treatment harms a developing baby, there are no clinical studies specifically proving safety during pregnancy either. Most physicians and laser clinics follow the precautionary principle and postpone treatments until after delivery.
Hormonal changes during pregnancy often increase hair growth in areas like the face, abdomen, and breasts. These hormonal hairs may not respond as predictably to laser treatment during pregnancy. The good news is that many of these changes reverse after delivery and breastfeeding as hormone levels normalize.
We recommend completing your laser series before becoming pregnant if possible. If you become pregnant during your treatment series, we will pause your treatments and resume after delivery (and typically after breastfeeding). Sessions already completed still count — you simply pick up where you left off.
