Telehealth has become a significant part of healthcare delivery, and its role in medical aesthetics and weight management deserves thoughtful examination. At Rani Beauty Clinic in Renton, WA, we use a hybrid approach that combines the convenience of technology with the clinical thoroughness of in-person care.

Where Telehealth Excels

Follow-up consultations for established patients who are stable on their treatment plans can be conducted effectively via telehealth. Reviewing lab results, discussing progress, answering questions, and making minor treatment adjustments are all well-suited to virtual visits. For patients with demanding schedules, the ability to check in with their provider without traveling to the clinic is genuinely valuable.

Initial information gathering and educational consultations can also begin virtually. Patients who want to learn about treatment options before committing to an in-person visit can benefit from a virtual consultation that explains what is available and what to expect.

Where In-Person Care Is Essential

The initial medical evaluation for GLP-1 therapy, including comprehensive lab work and physical assessment, requires an in-person visit. Lab specimens cannot be drawn virtually, and certain aspects of physical assessment are difficult to conduct remotely. Establishing a baseline health assessment that guides safe prescribing requires hands-on evaluation.

Aesthetic treatments by definition require in-person delivery. While consultations and follow-ups can occur virtually, the treatments themselves must be performed by trained professionals in a clinical setting.

Patients experiencing concerning side effects benefit from in-person evaluation where the provider can perform a direct assessment rather than relying on the patient's description alone.

The Hybrid Approach

At Rani Beauty Clinic, we use telehealth selectively to enhance rather than replace in-person care. Initial evaluations, lab draws, treatment delivery, and assessments where physical examination is valuable are conducted in person. Follow-up check-ins, result reviews, and routine consultations can be offered virtually when appropriate. This approach maximizes both quality of care and patient convenience.

Red Flags in Telehealth-Only Providers

Be cautious of providers who prescribe GLP-1 medications based solely on a brief online questionnaire without a genuine medical evaluation, who do not require or review lab work, who have no mechanism for in-person evaluation if needed, or who make it difficult to reach a physician when questions or concerns arise. These shortcuts may increase convenience but reduce safety.
