First-Timer Guide

First Time Botox: What to Expect

Expert guidance from Dr. Alexander Landfield, Board-Certified Neurologist

Your first Botox appointment is a milestone — and we want you to feel completely confident walking through our doors. At Rani Beauty Clinic, every injection is performed under the supervision of Dr. Alexander Landfield, our board-certified neurologist and Medical Director. Here's everything you need to know about your first visit.

Pain Level

Most patients rate it 2–3 out of 10 — a brief pinch that's over in seconds

Duration

15–30 minutes (often called a 'lunchtime treatment')

Downtime

No downtime — return to normal activities immediately after your appointment

Sessions

Maintenance every 3–4 months to sustain results

Before Your Appointment

  • 1Avoid blood-thinning medications, supplements (fish oil, vitamin E, ibuprofen), and alcohol for 24–48 hours before your appointment to minimize bruising
  • 2Come to your appointment with a clean face — no makeup on the treatment areas
  • 3Eat a light meal beforehand so you feel comfortable and relaxed during treatment
  • 4Write down your aesthetic goals and any areas of concern so your provider can create a personalized treatment plan

During Your Treatment

1

Consultation

Your provider will assess your facial anatomy, discuss your goals, and recommend a customized injection plan. This is a collaborative conversation — your input matters.

2

Preparation

The treatment areas are cleansed and marked. A topical numbing cream may be applied if desired, though most patients find it unnecessary.

3

Injection

Using an ultra-fine needle, your provider precisely places small amounts of Botox into targeted muscles. Most patients describe the sensation as a brief pinch — far less painful than expected.

4

Assessment

Your provider evaluates symmetry and ensures even placement. Minor adjustments may be made for optimal results.

5

Aftercare Review

You'll receive personalized aftercare instructions and your provider will answer any remaining questions before you leave.

After Your Treatment

  • Remain upright for at least 4 hours after treatment — avoid lying down or bending over
  • Do not touch, rub, or massage the treated areas for 24 hours to prevent migration
  • Skip strenuous exercise, saunas, and hot tubs for 24 hours
  • Mild redness or small bumps at injection sites are normal and typically resolve within 30 minutes to a few hours
  • Avoid alcohol for 24 hours post-treatment to reduce bruising risk

When Will I See Results?

Visible improvement in 3–5 days, with full results at 10–14 days

Frequently Asked Questions

Does Botox hurt the first time?

Most first-time patients are pleasantly surprised by how comfortable the treatment is. The needles used are ultra-fine — much thinner than those used for blood draws. Most patients describe the sensation as a brief pinch or mosquito bite. If you're particularly sensitive, your provider can apply a topical numbing cream before treatment.

How much Botox will I need for my first treatment?

The amount of Botox varies based on your facial anatomy, muscle strength, and treatment goals. A typical first-time treatment for forehead lines and crow's feet ranges from 20–40 units. Your provider will recommend the exact amount during your consultation — we never over-treat, and you can always add more at a follow-up appointment.

Will I look frozen or unnatural after Botox?

At Rani Beauty Clinic, we specialize in natural-looking results. Our approach focuses on softening lines while preserving your natural expressions. Dr. Landfield's neurology background gives our team a deep understanding of facial muscle anatomy, ensuring precise placement for results that look refreshed — never frozen.

What if I don't like my Botox results?

Botox is temporary, which is one of its greatest advantages for first-time patients. Results typically last 3–4 months. If you feel you need an adjustment, we offer a complimentary 2-week follow-up appointment to assess your results and make any refinements. Your satisfaction is our priority.

Can I get Botox on my lunch break?

Absolutely. The treatment itself takes only 15–30 minutes, and there's no downtime afterward. Many of our patients schedule their appointments during lunch and return to work immediately. You may have tiny bumps at the injection sites, but these resolve within minutes.
