Your First Visit
First Time Getting Chemical Peel?
A chemical peel is one of the most effective ways to reveal fresher, more radiant skin - addressing everything from fine lines and sun damage to uneven tone and texture. If you're considering your first peel, knowing what to expect takes the mystery out of the process. At Rani Beauty Clinic, we customize every peel to your skin type and concerns.

- 1
Discontinue retinoids (tretinoin, retinol) for 5-7 days before your peel to prevent over-exfoliation

Avoid waxing, laser treatments, and other exfoliating procedures on the treatment area for at least 1 week prior
- 3
Apply broad-spectrum sunscreen daily for 2 weeks before your peel - sunburned or tanned skin cannot be safely treated
- 4
Inform your provider about any current skincare products, medications, and history of cold sores
During Your Treatment
Skin Analysis
Your clinician evaluates your skin type, tone, and concerns to select the appropriate peel type and strength. First-time patients typically start with a lighter peel to assess your skin's response.
Cleansing
Your skin is thoroughly cleansed and degreased to ensure even peel penetration. This step is essential for consistent, uniform results.
Peel Application
The chemical solution is applied evenly across the treatment area. You may feel a tingling, warming, or mild stinging sensation - this is normal and indicates the peel is actively working. Your clinician monitors your skin's response throughout.
Neutralization
After the appropriate amount of time, the peel is neutralized and removed. A cooling compress may be applied for added comfort.
Recovery Prep
A soothing moisturizer and SPF are applied. Your clinician provides a detailed aftercare kit and instructions for the days ahead.
After Your Treatment
Expect mild redness, tightness, and sensitivity for 1-3 days depending on peel depth - similar to a mild sunburn
Peeling and flaking typically begin on day 2-3 and last 3-7 days - do NOT pick, peel, or scrub the skin prematurely
Use only gentle, fragrance-free cleanser and a rich, hydrating moisturizer during the peeling phase
Apply SPF 30+ sunscreen every day without exception - your new skin is extremely photosensitive
Avoid active skincare ingredients (retinoids, AHAs, vitamin C) until peeling has fully completed
