Six conversations before a procedure
Identify your clinician

Discuss your history
Bring current medicines, skincare, previous procedures and reactions for review, along with health changes that may matter. Ask whether further assessment or another clinician’s advice is needed. Request personal instructions before changing medicines or products.
Name the product or device
Ask what is proposed, why it fits the assessment, its intended use and what it cannot address. Read the product or procedure information. A device name, clearance or a cooling feature does not replace the discussion of your own risks.
Compare risks and alternatives
Discuss common effects, serious complications, possible unwanted results and the choice to defer. Ask what would change the recommendation. A non-surgical description or a short recovery estimate is not a guarantee that a procedure is suitable for you.
Understand consent and cost
Request the named procedure, covered areas, complete quote and what is included in writing. Confirm consultation, treatment, review, deposit and cancellation arrangements before you commit. A consultation reservation does not reserve a named treatment.
Arrange follow-up
Ask for written care instructions, whom to contact for concerns, and what needs prompt medical attention. Clarify how a review is arranged and any separate charges. For a medical emergency, call 911 rather than waiting for a routine clinic appointment.
