Dermal filler aftercare requires specific attention because the product needs time to settle and integrate with your tissue for the most natural result. At Rani Beauty Clinic in Renton, WA, we provide detailed aftercare guidance that ensures your filler investment produces the beautiful, lasting outcome you expect.

Swelling is the most common immediate effect after filler treatment and is a normal inflammatory response, not a complication. The degree of swelling varies by treatment area, with lips typically swelling the most. Swelling peaks at twenty-four to forty-eight hours and gradually resolves over five to fourteen days. The final result is not visible until swelling has completely resolved, so patience during this period is essential.

Cold compresses applied gently to the treated area reduce swelling and discomfort during the first twenty-four to forty-eight hours. Use a clean cloth between the ice and skin. Apply for ten to fifteen minutes at a time with breaks between applications. Avoid direct pressure on the filler, which could displace it.

Bruising may occur at injection sites and typically resolves within seven to fourteen days. Arnica supplements and topical arnica gel may accelerate bruising resolution. Avoid blood-thinning medications, supplements, and alcohol for twenty-four to forty-eight hours after treatment to minimize additional bruising.

Do not massage or manipulate the treated area for the first two weeks unless specifically instructed by your provider. Some filler placements benefit from gentle molding, but only when directed by the treating clinician. Uninstructed massage can displace filler from its intended position.

Avoid extreme heat including saunas, hot yoga, and steam rooms for two weeks after filler treatment. Heat can increase swelling and may affect how the filler settles. Normal daily temperatures and activities are fine after the first twenty-four hours.

Sleep position matters for the first few nights. Try to sleep on your back to avoid prolonged pressure on the treated area. If you received lip filler, sleeping face-down can compress the lips against the pillow and affect the result.

Dental procedures should be postponed for two weeks after filler treatment to the lips or nasolabial folds. The pressure and manipulation involved in dental work can displace recently placed filler. Inform your dentist about recent filler treatment.

At Rani Beauty Clinic, follow-up is scheduled at two to four weeks after filler treatment to assess the settled result and determine if any refinement is desired.

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

Common Questions

Swelling peaks at twenty-four to forty-eight hours and gradually resolves over five to fourteen days. Lip filler typically swells more and longer than cheek or jawline filler. The final result is visible once all swelling has resolved, typically at two to four weeks.

Most swelling resolves within one to two weeks. The filler continues to settle and integrate with tissue for two to four weeks. Your scheduled follow-up at two to four weeks assesses the final result and allows for any refinement.

Minor asymmetry during the swelling phase is normal and typically resolves as swelling subsides. If unevenness persists after two to four weeks, your provider can assess and potentially adjust with additional filler or, for hyaluronic acid fillers, dissolve with hyaluronidase.
