Injections are involved in many treatments at Rani Beauty Clinic in Renton, WA, from Botox and fillers to GLP-1 therapy and peptide treatments. Here are answers to every injection-related question our patients ask.

Does it hurt?
Pain perception varies by individual and treatment type. Botox uses very fine needles and is described as a brief pinch. Fillers contain lidocaine (numbing agent) and topical numbing is available. GLP-1 and peptide IM injections use fine needles and take just seconds. Most patients describe all injections as very manageable.

How fine are the needles?
We use the finest appropriate needles for each treatment type. Botox needles are extremely thin (30 to 32 gauge). Filler can be administered via needle or cannula depending on the area and provider preference. IM injection needles are fine and designed for minimal discomfort.

Can I numb the area first?
Yes. Topical numbing cream is available for any injection treatment and is routinely applied for fillers and microneedling. Most Botox and IM injection patients do not require numbing but can request it.

How long do injection appointments take?
Botox: 15 to 30 minutes. Fillers: 30 to 60 minutes. GLP-1 injection: 5 to 10 minutes (plus appointment time). Peptide injection: 5 to 10 minutes (plus appointment time).

What should I avoid before injections?
For Botox and fillers, avoid blood-thinning medications and supplements (aspirin, ibuprofen, fish oil, vitamin E) for several days before treatment to reduce bruising risk. Always consult your prescribing physician before stopping any prescription medication. For GLP-1 and peptide injections, no special preparation is typically needed.

What should I avoid after injections?
Botox: Avoid lying flat, intense exercise, and rubbing treated areas for four to six hours. Fillers: Avoid intense exercise, heat exposure, and heavy pressure on treated areas for 24 to 48 hours. GLP-1: Resume all normal activities. Eat lightly and stay hydrated. Peptides: Resume all normal activities.

How soon can I exercise after injections?
GLP-1 and peptide injections: same day, light to moderate activity. Botox: light activity same day, avoid intense exercise for 24 hours. Fillers: avoid intense exercise for 24 to 48 hours.

Will I bruise?
Minor bruising is possible with any injection, particularly Botox and fillers. The face has many small blood vessels, and even careful technique can occasionally result in a small bruise. Bruises typically resolve within a few days. Avoiding blood thinners before treatment reduces bruising risk.

What if I am afraid of needles?
Needle anxiety is common and nothing to be embarrassed about. Let your provider know. We can use topical numbing, distraction techniques, relaxation breathing, and a gentle, communicative approach to make the experience as comfortable as possible. Many needle-anxious patients are surprised at how manageable the experience is.

How do I know the products are safe and authentic?
At Rani Beauty Clinic, all injectable products are sourced directly from authorized distributors (for brand-name products) or licensed compounding pharmacies (for compounded medications). We maintain strict chain-of-custody and storage protocols.
At Rani Beauty Clinic in Renton, your comfort and safety during every injection are our priority. We welcome questions and take every step to make your experience positive.
