Dr. Alexander Landfield
Board-Certified Neurologist & Medical Director
Teenagers often feel self-conscious about unwanted body hair, and many parents wonder whether laser hair removal is a safe option. The good news is that laser can be safe and effective for teens when performed at a physician-supervised clinic with appropriate protocols.
Generally, laser hair removal can be considered once a teenager has reached puberty and their hormones have begun to stabilize, typically around ages 14-16. Treating before puberty is not recommended because hormone-driven hair growth patterns are still developing, and new hair growth may appear in untreated areas.
Parental consent is required for all patients under 18 at Rani Beauty Clinic. We require a parent or guardian to attend the initial consultation and sign consent forms. During the consultation, Dr. Landfield discusses realistic expectations with both the teen and parent.
Common treatment areas for teens include underarms, bikini line, upper lip, and legs. We use the same safe Candela GentleMax Pro Plus technology with settings adjusted for younger skin. Teen patients should understand that they may need additional sessions in the future as hormones continue developing through their late teens and early twenties.
