Rebuilding your skincare routine after aesthetic treatment requires a graduated approach that reintroduces products at the right pace for healing skin. At Rani Beauty Clinic in Renton, WA, we provide specific reintroduction timelines because resuming products too quickly can undo the benefits of your treatment.

The immediate post-procedure routine is deliberately simplified to the essentials: gentle cleanser, hydrating serum, barrier-repair moisturizer, and SPF. These four products support healing without introducing anything that could irritate compromised skin or interfere with the treatment response.

Week one after most treatments maintains this simplified routine. Your skin is in the inflammatory phase of healing, and adding active ingredients at this stage can convert helpful inflammation into harmful irritation. Patience during this week protects your investment.

Week two introduces the first gentle active. Niacinamide is typically the safest reintroduction because of its anti-inflammatory properties and broad compatibility with healing skin. Resume using it in the morning as part of your serum step.

Weeks two to three reintroduce vitamin C serum in the morning. Start with every other day and increase to daily as tolerance confirms. Vitamin C's antioxidant protection and collagen-stimulating properties benefit healing skin once the acute inflammatory phase has resolved.

Weeks three to four reintroduce retinoid in the evening. Start with two nights per week and build to your regular frequency over two to three weeks. Apply to dry skin and buffer with moisturizer if sensitivity occurs. This gradual reintroduction prevents the retinoid-related irritation that would be excessive on recently treated skin.

AHA and BHA exfoliants are the last products reintroduced, typically at four to six weeks depending on the treatment performed. Begin at reduced frequency and build back to your normal schedule.

The reintroduction timeline varies by treatment type. Botox and filler require minimal routine modification. HydraFacial requires no routine change. RF microneedling, laser, and chemical peels require the full graduated reintroduction described above.

At Rani Beauty Clinic, your clinician provides a written reintroduction schedule specific to your treatment and skin type at each appointment.

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

Common Questions

After RF microneedling, chemical peels, and laser treatments, wait three to four weeks before reintroducing retinoid. Start at two nights per week and increase gradually. After Botox and fillers, you can continue retinoid use without interruption.

Vitamin C at active concentrations can irritate skin with a temporarily compromised barrier. The acid pH and active nature of L-ascorbic acid can cause stinging and redness on healing skin. Waiting two to three weeks allows barrier recovery before reintroduction.

Gentle cleanser, hyaluronic acid serum, ceramide-rich moisturizer, and SPF 50. These four products support healing, maintain hydration, rebuild the barrier, and protect from UV damage without introducing potentially irritating active ingredients.
