Pre & Post Care

RF microneedling stimulates powerful collagen remodeling that continues for months after treatment. Proper preparation and aftercare support the healing process that creates these remarkable results. At Rani Beauty Clinic in Renton, WA, we provide detailed care instructions for every RF microneedling session.

Pre-treatment preparation begins one to two weeks before your appointment. Discontinue retinoids for five to seven days before treatment. Stop using AHAs, BHAs, and other exfoliating products for three to five days. These products can sensitize the skin and increase the risk of excessive irritation from the microneedling.

Avoid sun exposure for one to two weeks before treatment. Active tan or sunburn in the treatment area must be resolved before RF microneedling can be safely performed. The combination of UV-inflamed skin and microneedling injury increases complication risk.

Discontinue blood-thinning supplements for seven to fourteen days before treatment to minimize bruising. The microneedles create thousands of micro-injuries that can produce noticeable bruising if blood clotting is impaired.

Arrive with clean, product-free skin. No makeup, sunscreen, moisturizer, or active products should be present on the treatment area. This ensures optimal needle penetration and reduces infection risk.

Topical numbing cream is applied thirty to forty-five minutes before treatment. This significantly reduces discomfort during the procedure. Most patients report that the treatment feels like mild heat and vibration with the numbing in place.

Post-treatment expectations for the first twenty-four to forty-eight hours include redness similar to moderate sunburn, mild swelling, warmth, and pin-point bleeding or spotting at treatment sites. These are normal responses to the controlled micro-injuries and indicate that the treatment was performed effectively. The intensity of these effects varies by treatment depth and individual response.

Immediately after treatment, apply only the products recommended by your clinician. Hyaluronic acid serum is typically applied to take advantage of the micro-channels for enhanced absorption. Gentle, hydrating post-treatment moisturizer follows. Avoid any active ingredients, fragrances, or products not specifically approved for post-microneedling use.

Do not wash the treated area for twelve to twenty-four hours, as directed. The micro-channels remain open during this period, and introducing water, cleanser, or other products too early can cause irritation or infection. When you do cleanse, use a gentle, pH-balanced cleanser without active ingredients.

Sun avoidance for two to four weeks post-treatment is critical. The healing skin is photosensitive and prone to hyperpigmentation with UV exposure. Apply SPF 30 or higher daily and avoid prolonged sun exposure. Physical sun protection with hats and shade supplements your sunscreen.

Avoid exercise and excessive sweating for twenty-four to forty-eight hours. Sweat entering the micro-channels can cause irritation and increase infection risk. Light activities are fine, but defer intense workouts until the micro-channels have closed.

Avoid makeup for twenty-four to forty-eight hours to prevent product particles from entering healing micro-channels. When you resume makeup use, choose mineral-based products that are less likely to irritate healing skin.

Downtime is typically two to five days of visible redness and mild social downtime. Most patients feel comfortable returning to work and social activities within two to three days. Tinted moisturizer or mineral makeup can camouflage residual redness once the initial twenty-four to forty-eight hour product-free period has passed.

Results develop gradually over the following three to six months as new collagen matures. Immediate effects include mild skin tightening from collagen contraction. Progressive improvement in texture, firmness, and overall skin quality continues well after the visible healing is complete.

Follow your RF microneedling protocol from Rani Beauty Clinic.
