Pre & Post Care

Proper preparation before Botox maximizes your results and minimizes side effects. At Rani Beauty Clinic in Renton, WA, we provide this pre-treatment checklist to ensure every Botox appointment produces the best possible outcome.

One to two weeks before treatment, discontinue blood-thinning supplements unless medically necessary. Fish oil, vitamin E, ginkgo biloba, garlic supplements, and St. John's wort all increase bruising risk. Consult your prescribing physician before stopping any prescribed blood thinners. Aspirin and non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs like ibuprofen should be avoided for the same period if medically safe to do so.

One week before treatment, avoid alcohol consumption. Alcohol acts as a blood thinner and vasodilator, increasing the likelihood and severity of bruising at injection sites. Even moderate alcohol intake in the days preceding treatment can influence bruising risk. This is one of the simplest preparation steps and one of the most impactful.

Begin taking arnica supplements three to five days before treatment. Arnica montana, available as sublingual tablets or oral supplements, has anti-inflammatory properties that may reduce bruising when started before and continued after treatment. While evidence is mixed, many patients and practitioners report benefit from this natural approach.

The day of treatment, arrive with a clean face free of makeup, sunscreen, and skincare products in the treatment area. These products can interfere with injection site preparation and increase infection risk. If coming from work or other activities, plan to remove products before treatment or we can cleanse the area for you.

Avoid strenuous exercise on the morning of your treatment. Exercise increases blood flow and blood pressure, which can increase bruising risk and potentially affect product distribution. Light activity is fine, but save your intense workout for the following day.

Eat a light meal before your appointment. Arriving with stable blood sugar reduces the risk of lightheadedness during treatment. Some patients feel slightly nervous, especially for first treatments, and having food in your system provides a physical foundation of stability.

Communicate thoroughly with your clinician at the start of your appointment. Mention any new medications, supplements, health changes, or concerns since your last visit. Inform your clinician of any event you are preparing for, as this may influence treatment timing and approach. Share your satisfaction or dissatisfaction with previous results to guide adjustments.

Arrive on time to allow adequate time for preparation and treatment without rushing. A rushed appointment increases the likelihood of suboptimal results. If you are running late, consider rescheduling rather than compressing the appointment.

Manage expectations for your appointment day. Botox results are not visible immediately. Initial effects appear in three to five days with full results at ten to fourteen days. The needle insertion points may be visible as tiny red dots that resolve within hours. Very mild swelling at injection sites is normal and resolves within a day.

Having a plan for after treatment supports optimal results. Arrange your schedule so you can stay upright for four hours after injection. Avoid scheduling facial treatments, dental work, or activities that require lying face-down on the day of treatment.

Follow your pre-treatment checklist from Rani Beauty Clinic.

We recommend avoiding aspirin and NSAIDs for seven to fourteen days before Botox if medically safe. These medications thin the blood and significantly increase bruising risk. Always consult your prescribing doctor before stopping any prescribed medication.

Yes. Arriving with stable blood sugar reduces the risk of lightheadedness. Eat a light, balanced meal before your appointment. This is especially important for first-time patients who may feel nervous.

We prefer a clean face for the treatment area. If wearing makeup is necessary, we can cleanse the area before treatment. However, arriving makeup-free in the treatment zone ensures the cleanest possible injection environment.
