Aftercare

Laser treatment aftercare is critical for achieving optimal results and preventing complications. At Rani Beauty Clinic in Renton, WA, we provide detailed aftercare protocols specific to each laser treatment because proper healing directly determines the quality of your outcome.

Sun protection after laser treatment is the single most important aftercare requirement. Laser-treated skin is significantly more susceptible to UV damage and hyperpigmentation during the healing period. Apply SPF 50 or higher every morning and reapply every two hours during any outdoor exposure. Avoid direct sun exposure on treated areas for at least two weeks. This is not a suggestion but a requirement for safe healing.

Gentle cleansing maintains treated skin without irritating the healing surface. Use a mild, fragrance-free cleanser and lukewarm water. Pat dry gently rather than rubbing. Avoid scrubbing, exfoliating, or using cleansing devices on treated areas until fully healed.

Moisturization supports the barrier recovery process. Apply a simple, fragrance-free, non-comedogenic moisturizer to treated skin two to three times daily. Ceramide-containing products are particularly beneficial as they support barrier rebuilding. Avoid products with active ingredients including retinoids, vitamin C, and AHAs until your clinician clears you to resume them.

Redness after laser treatment is normal and expected. PicoWay typically produces mild redness lasting one to three days. IPL photofacial produces redness lasting a few hours to two days. More aggressive laser settings produce longer redness. This is a normal healing response, not a complication.

Treated pigmented spots may darken before flaking off. This is the desired response showing that the laser successfully targeted the melanin. Do not pick, scratch, or scrub these darkened areas. Allow them to shed naturally over five to ten days.

Avoid makeup on treated areas for twenty-four to forty-eight hours or as directed. When resuming makeup, use clean brushes and mineral-based formulations that are gentler on healing skin.

Avoid heat, intense exercise, and alcohol for twenty-four to forty-eight hours to prevent excessive inflammation during the acute healing phase.

At Rani Beauty Clinic, laser aftercare instructions are provided in writing and reviewed verbally after every treatment to ensure you feel confident about your recovery process.

Redness duration depends on the laser type and settings. PicoWay typically produces one to three days of mild redness. IPL produces hours to two days. More aggressive treatments produce longer redness. Your clinician provides specific expectations for your treatment.

Wait twenty-four to forty-eight hours for most laser treatments. When resuming, use clean brushes and mineral-based makeup. If treated areas are still sensitive, wait longer. Your clinician provides specific guidance based on your treatment.

Darkening of treated pigmented spots is the desired response showing successful melanin targeting. The shattered pigment rises to the surface and crusts before shedding over five to ten days. Do not pick these areas. Allow natural shedding for the best result.
